 My Pets

My life would not be complete, and neither would my web site, without my furry family.  Here is a collection of beloved friends, some still

among us and some waiting just over the Rainbow Bridge.  Visit my "Dogs at Play" slideshow for some fun with Simba and Bryson.

Simba, age 8 months.  Simba was taken to Animal Control to be euthanized when he was 6mos old because his family couldn't control him.  Fortunately Great Dane Rescue brought him to me! Bryson was my foster dog for 2mos while he waited for an adoptive family.  In spite of having been abused and neglected he is the sweetest boy.  He went home with a great family.

Jasmine, Siamese Mix

Another Christmas import from my mom's ranch.  Jasmine has all the beauty of a Siamese and none of the temperament.

Merlin, Blue Great Dane

Merlin was with me since he was a puppy.  I got him from a breeder in the Austin area.  He was a mama's boy.  He passed away in September 2006 at age 13.5!

Topaz, Harlequin Great Dane

Topaz came to me from the Southwest Great Dane Rescue Club.  She was a champion show dog who was bred till she couldn't have any more puppies then placed for adoption.  She passed away from breast cancer in February 2007.

Majiik, Fawn Great Dane

Majiik was the first Dane I raised from puppyhood and she is responsible for my love of the breed.  She passed away in Spring of 2001 at age 12.5

Majiik was always an athlete, and she loved the rare snow days we enjoyed here on the high desert mesa.

Bart, Black Great Dane

Bart is the son of Merlin and Voodoo, my one foray into dog breeding.  He belonged to my best friend, Bob.  He passed away in '04 at age 11.

Sydney, Lemon Borzoi

I bought Sydney at a garage sale!  He'd been badly abused and required a lot of love.  He had a lot to give back in return.  He passed away in 2000

Voodoo, Black Great Dane

Voodoo was with me from puppyhood.  She passed away in 2002 at age 11.

Lucy, Irish Wolfhound

I had Lucy from puppyhood.  She died at age 6 from hereditary kidney disease.

Gus, Irish Wolfhound

Gus came to me from the Irish Wolfhound Rescue Club.  His owner loved him, but she had terminal cancer and could no longer take care of him.  He lived to be 11.

Harlequin, Barn Cat

Harlequin is hard to photograph because he always either hunting or asleep on my lap.  No other lap will do!  I brought him home from my mom's farm one Christmas. He passed away in '05.

Harlequin just had to help us paint the house...
Cloud and Taidje Khan

Mother and son, long departed, enjoying the same snow as Majiik.

Harlequin's Dinner Guest

This is one of the feral cats that live in my yard.  He is pretty civilized for a wild beast.  :)

Gypsy, Calico Street Cat

Gypsy was rescued from the streets by my vet, and I adopted her when Cloud died.  She has never forgotten her cold and hungry homeless life.  The heater grate is her god.

Rocket, Desert Tortoise

Really, it doesn't have a name.  This wild tortoise showed up in my yard several years ago and has lived with me ever since.  It follows me around just like the dogs and cats, everyone thinks it's funny to watch.  He also chases cats and nips their feet.
